The Office of the Ombudsperson for Children monitors CFSA performance data and information related to the experiences of children and youth in the agency's care. The primary metrics for evaluating performance are established in the Office's enabling legislation. The Ombudsperson is authorized to investigate systemic issues as they are identified.
D.C. law directs the OFC to release an annual report every year by December 31. It reviews the office’s work from the previous fiscal year and includes child welfare trends and data. The OFC also publishes a mid‑year report, created voluntarily, to update the community on ongoing work and child welfare program insights.
